Illustration Friday "Resolve"

"A question of balance"

It's not everyday I find myself paraphrasing Mary Poppins, but I've always found resolutions to be like pie crust promises. Easily made and easily broken.

But this year I've set a personal goal, not to let work come between myself and my family. Working from home is a blessing and a curse and I often find myself sneaking back into the office for that one last "tweak".

So this year, whenever I hear those giggles coming from the next room, I'll be straight in there joining in the fun.

Happy New Year folks and good luck with your own resolutions.

(Oh and I want to start jogging again too...................maybe)

  1. That's a wonderful illustration and resolution. I too find it hard to work when I'm missing out on time with my family. You just have to balance it all out the best you can. Happy New Year from over above.

  4. Great illustration, I understand how it is when there are things we feel that we need to know versus spending time with our families! Have a great New Year and I wish you luck on the jogging!

  5. Brave man - when I hear laughing from my daughters rooms, I'd rather not find out what's going on. Excellent illustration, love the colour contrast.

  7. This usually happens to me when I am on deadline and can't get away even if I wanted to.

...something I hope to resolve in the near future.

  15. Hey Chris- what you wrote is so true- I'm totally like that (sneaking off for one last tweak). I'm with you on your New Years resolution! I noticed you have Tom and Rob in your Admire and Inspire section. Both those dudes are awesome. I worked with them at the Florida studio for nine years. Rob was actually my animation mentor. Rob was always making me laugh and Tom was like everyones big brother. Your art is rocking- I'm way inspired by it- keep it up.
